For some strange reason, despite the warnings all around us, people are leary of preppers. Even though things like climate change are nearly universally accepted around the world, people don’t appreciate disaster readiness.
Preppers value a place to hide things. This is a characteristic that we value more than most. If only we all could have a Batcave of our own.
There are many ways to hide things in walls or in furniture really it comes down to the creativity of the person who is doing the hiding. If you are very slick you can hide your preps in plain sight and no one will ever know what’s around them.
Some preppers are forced to do this because their family does not appreciate their efforts. Let’s look at some great ways to hide preps in plain sight.
Jerry Can Compartment
Jerry cans are great for fuel storage but what else can they be used for? Could you hide important preps within a jerry can?
Much of our furniture is filled with dead space. Things like couchers are a prime example of this. We can hide all kinds of things in the space between our cushions and the actual bottom of the couch. That favorite chair of yours also has some dead space for hiding preps.
Behind books on a Shelf
If you line your bookshelf with canned food or other small preps, you can put the books back and cover them completely. This is a great little hack for food storage. It can work for first aid preps or gold and silver, too!
One of the oldest tricks in the book is the false wall. There are many areas in your home that could benefit from a false wall. These areas will provide you with a ton of space to store preps!
Bonus: How to Make Pemmican, the Original Survival Food
Invented by the natives of North America pemmican was used by Indian scouts as well as early western explorers.
Native Americans spent a great deal of time on the go and depended on having portable, high-energy, highly nutritious, and filling foods that would last for long periods of time without refrigeration.
Pemmican is a portable, long-lasting, high-energy food. It’s made of lean, dried meat that’s crushed into powder and mixed with hot, rendered fat. This makes it one of the ultimate foods to have stockpiled for when SHTF or disaster strikes.
People really should avert their gaze from the modern survival thinking for just a bit and also look at how folks 150 years ago did it.
These guys were the last generation to practice basic things, for a living, that we call “survival skills” now.
