This is a really cool project. A few months ago I posted How To Make Mead (Honey Wine) and that went down really well, a lot of you commented how yummy and easy it is to make. Well over at prepperlink.com they have an even easier and cheaper method to make mead. Great for the winter months that are coning up.
The good thing about this recipe is you don’t need special equipment and if SHTF alcohol will be in high demand, and we all could use some away time if it does. This could be a great barter item to have stockpiled and if you want to save a lot of money this will save you at least 5 bucks a bottle on your wine.
Note: It is illegal to distill drinking alcohol in many countries, including the US. According to the TTB, US Federal law strictly prohibits individuals from producing distilled spirits at home, so only use this recipe for reference purposes. Unless, of course, it is the end of the world as we know it and the Federal government is not functioning. This is a great skill to know and master for a SHTF situation as alcohol could be used for barter; and naturally, entertainment. 🙂

Native Americans spent a great deal of time on the go and depended on having portable, high-energy, highly nutritious, and filling foods that would last for long periods of time without refrigeration.
Pemmican is a portable, long-lasting, high-energy food. It’s made of lean, dried meat that’s crushed into powder and mixed with hot, rendered fat. This makes it one of the ultimate foods to have stockpiled for when SHTF or disaster strikes.
People really should avert their gaze from the modern survival thinking for just a bit and also look at how folks 150 years ago did it.
These guys were the last generation to practice basic things, for a living, that we call “survival skills” now.
